. . . to better support your Orchid.

Our Core Course is an 8-week online class (1 hour per week), live via Zoom where you will find meaningful connection with other parents navigating similar parenting challenges while learning practical, usable strategies to set your Orchid Kid up for success at home, school and in the world.

We record each session, so if you miss one, you can catch up at your leisure. Registration is per family, so if you have a parenting partner, we highly recommend you both join or watch each recorded session together.

I liked the concept of antecedents. Spending the time figuring out what is the thing that is stressing my child out about this situation when they can't tell me when I ask them what is wrong. He's not going to always know himself but doesn't mean it's a black box. I think that's how I felt sometimes before this course. That’s not to say there aren’t times when I have no idea what set something off, but now there are more times where I can tell myself ‘I understand what’s happening here.’

I learned about shifting perspectives. I feel like I’m better able to toggle to a different perspective on a situation.

The course opened up my eyes. I have been very isolated. But I’ve done a lot of learning by hearing about other parents' struggles. Other circles I’ve been to have had children in the same age group as my kid, but they’re not where he is mentally and socially. It’s made me want to seek out other parents who have kids like my kids.

I'm now setting my child up so he is feeling safer in those spaces. Those moments are improving. While we were doing this class, he did say he feels like he’s left behind. He's not learning like the other kids. So a lot of breakthroughs in that regard, even for me. I had been saying too many ‘shoulds’ but now I say ‘No, he can’t do this right now, but maybe we can work towards it.’ It’s helped me a lot.

I feel like I personally have a whole notebook of stuff that I'm still chewing on. Especially this idea that ‘orchids would if they could’ and that they're inconsistent. Also, when we watched the consequences session I realized there’s so much stuff in there that pushes my thinking and that we want to play around with and talk about. I really appreciate the sense of connection I felt here.

What stood out to me is ‘trust yourself to make a decision and trust yourself to make a different decision if it turns out that’s not right.’ I think that sometimes it can feel like there's so much coming at us and that we need to make the perfect decision right away. But what you said feels like a big permission slip.

Erin L.Core Course, Winter 2025

The event we went to last Friday night, I said ‘Hey, if it's too loud or if it's too …’ so I prepared him and set him up, giving him some agency. I checked in on those kinds of things. At one point he did say ‘it’s crowded.’ And I asked him if he wanted to go in. Next thing you know, we were there another hour. It has made such a difference just being more intentional about communication.
